Class 3E

This term the whole school’s topic is based on ‘The Olympics!' So far, as part of history, we have begun to explore the Ancient Greeks and the origins of the Olympic games. This has included exploring Greek mythology. For example did you know that Zeus was believed to be the king of all gods!
In our class, we have been learning about the different sports and events involved in the Olympics such as the Equestrian, Triathlon and Paralympics. In addition, we have also carried out some research and collected information on many famous athletes from around the world that have taken part in Olympic events. Their determination, tenacity and endurance to succeed is indeed inspiring.
In the future we look forward to taking part in class debates on issues such as whether or not certain sports should be in the Olympics, justifying our reasons why? Or whether or not the Olympics have been positive for the development of our local community? Are there any subjects that you feel strongly about? Furthermore we are very excited to be taking part in our very own sports events on SPORTS DAY! Will year 3 win the gold, silver or bronze medal...
Finally we hope to design our very own Olympic stadium as part of design technology and science. We will be exploring various materials and joining techniques in order to build the strongest structure. But most of all we can't wait for the London 2012 Olympic games to begin! Come on England!
