Class 2J
We are 2J. Jenna is our class teacher but every Wednesday Iain teaches us. We also have Angela helping us to learn. Mark teaches us music and Jo teaches us French. We really enjoy both of these lessons.
In the autumn term, we learnt all about Samuel Pepys. He is a famous writer who wrote diary entries about the great fire of London. We wrote about his life and sketched him in our art lessons. In ICT, we created pictures of the Great Fire of London. We enjoyed learning about Samuel Pepys and other famous people such as David Beckham, Roald Dahl and Florence Nightingale. We visited Madame Tussauds and saw many other famous people – this was extremely exciting!
Last term we learnt all about Africa. We discovered that there are 2000 languages spoken there and there are 54 countries in the continent of Africa. We also found out about African people and how their lives are different from ours. We had a safari day, where we dressed up as African animals and learnt all about them.
This term we are learning about the Olympics. Fortunately, the Olympics are happening in our borough and we can’t wait! We have already learnt about the Olympic torch and we created a presentation and song about this for the parents. Using clay, we are making Olympic medals and will put these on our classroom display for everybody to see. In ICT, we are designing our own Olympic stadiums using Google sketch up and later on in the term we will be creating animations of athletes. We are also writing stories about the Olympics and using our imaginations to ensure they are interesting for the reader.
We are really enjoying learning about the 2012 Olympics. We are also looking forward to our sports day at West Ham Park where we will compete alongside the year 1 and Reception classes.
